Neurolysis Procedure

Your Health is Our Top Priority!

Neurolysis Procedure

Neurolysis is a procedure that utilizes chemical or physical agents to disrupt the transmission of nerve signals to the brain. This procedure causes temporary degeneration of targeted nerve fibers while promoting lasting and sometimes permanent relief from pain.

Physical neurolysis uses radiofrequency energy to halt the ability of nerves to send pain signals to the brain. This type of neurolysis is more precise and is reversible, hence, it is preferred by most patients.

Chemical neurolysis, on the other hand, uses ultrasound-guided injections to administer the medication onto the targeted nerves. This type of neurolysis causes deconstructive fibrosis, hence, it works best for perplex or interlacing structures.

While neurolysis is commonly used to alleviate pain in cancer patients, it can also help treat severe back, neck and knee pain. Spinal neurolysis is administered to patients who suffer from severe pain and discomfort caused by arthritis in the back or neck. The procedure involves directing the heat to the nerves which innervate the affected joints.

Physical neurolysis for knee pain uses radiofrequency heat to halt the genicular nerves from sending pain signals to the brain. This is mostly used for patients with knee osteoarthritis.

Neurolysis for the neck uses radiofrequency heat directed to the area where pain is felt the most. In some cases, a tension or cervicogenic headache that roots from the neck can also be treated with neurolysis. Neurolysis may also be recommended to treat neck pain associated with whiplash.

Our goal is to help you say goodbye to severe back, neck and knee pain! We ensure that the nerves targeted in the procedure are the same nerves responsible for the pain.
