Back and neck pain can halt smooth muscle and body movement that makes it difficult to go through a typical day. Reasons for this kind of pain vary, but the root cause may be attributed to how we hold ourselves while moving, standing and sitting.
Undergoing proper interventional pain management at Advance Sports and Spine can prevent the pain from spreading and worsening.
Back and neck pain includes osteoarthritis which is the wear-and-tear of the joints; tendon injuries; and sciatica which are symptoms of leg pain involving tingling, numbness or weakness.
It also includes radiculopathy which is a discomfort due to a compressed nerve in the spine; Myofascial Pain Syndrome which is a pain disorder that triggers sensitive body points, and other joint pains.
Arthritis is a common joint discomfort that causes pain, swelling, stiffness and decreased range of motion for the joint which may progress or worsen over time.
Bursitis, on the other hand, is a condition that affects the small, fluid-filled sacs called bursae that acts like cushions to the bones, tendons, and muscles near the joints.
Other conditions related to arthritis and bursitis are neuralgias which is a pain due to an irritated or damaged nerve; carpal tunnel syndrome that causes pain in the median nerve. It also includes peripheral nerve entrapments which is a pain in the motor-sensory nerves; and complex regional pain syndrome which is a pain that affects a limb.
Also included are occupational injury which is a bodily injury resulting from work or an everyday routine; while sports injury is an injury sustained while playing a sport or a hobby.
Accident injuries are conditions sustained from an accident. In this kind of injury, patients mostly experience muscle numbness and weakness, tingling sensations on severed nerves, and muscle pain.
Accident injuries may include phantom limb pain which is felt on the body part that has been amputated, and spasticity which causes affected muscles to move involuntarily.
Other injuries included are trigger fingers which are a pain that can be felt when bending a finger; peripheral neuropathy which is a pain felt as a result of a severed peripheral nerve; and whiplash which is a result of a rear impact on the head and neck.
